The business relied on a third-party auction system that limited control over user experience, workflows, and future product development.

The objective was to build an independent platform that could deliver a modern bidder experience while supporting complex auction operations and creating a reusable technology foundation for future deployments.

Building a Reusable Auction Platform

August Infotech approached the project as a platform engineering initiative, designing modular workflows around the complete auction lifecycle rather than building a single-purpose auction website. The architecture supports three auction models—online-only, mixed online/offline, and asynchronous—while providing a common foundation for property management, bidder registration, verification, bidding, notifications, and administration. The platform was designed around reusable components and deployment-ready environments, allowing the technology foundation to evolve as business requirements grow.

Multi-Model Auction Engine

Supports online-only, mixed online/offline, and asynchronous bidding with configurable auction rules, countdowns, bid extensions, and bid management.

Real-Time Bidding

WebSocket-based communication provides live bid updates and auction-status changes, creating a responsive experience for participants and administrators.

Multi-Layer Bidder Verification

e-KYC provides automated identity verification. For auctions requiring additional assurance, notaries or inspectors initiate Zoom sessions and use breakout rooms to privately re-verify individual bidders or every member of a bidding group.

Group Bidding

Users can create groups, invite members, assign bidding authority, complete individual e-KYC, sign agreements, and participate collectively in an auction.

Production Blockchain

Ethereum, Solidity, and Web3 were integrated into the production platform to record selected auction events and connect bid activity with blockchain transactions, adding transparency and traceability to the auction lifecycle.

Secure Auction Operations

Role-based access, two-factor authentication, document workflows, audit trails, notifications, and digital signatures support controlled administration and bidder participation.
